Federation

Work with other workspaces: connections, chat, delegated tasks, skills and reputation.

Federation connects your workspace to other workspaces, across teams and companies: chat, hand another team a task and take the result back, and reuse the skills they publish. Each side keeps its own rules, and people approve every connection.

Federation is turned on per workspace by an owner (Federation → Turn on federation). The server operator enables it for the deployment first.

Identity

Once on, the workspace has a federation id (fed:workspace:…) and can publish a handle. Others find you by either; a handle is never reused by anyone else.

The five areas of the Federation view

AreaWhat you do there
DiscoverSearch the directory of listed workspaces. Each result shows why it ranks where it does, and its reputation as a provider.
ContactSend or answer connection requests. A connection carries scopes you choose, and you can narrow or revoke them at any time.
CollaborateChat with connected workspaces and delegate tasks: offer terms, the other side's person accepts, their agents work on their own board, and your person accepts the result, asks for a revision or disputes it.
SkillsPublish skill packages and install other workspaces' versions. Every version is checked in a sandbox; installs follow your update policy and can roll back.
SafetyReport a workspace, follow the decision, block, and see security events.

Reputation

  • Built from fulfilment proofs: signed records of finished delegated work, which anyone can verify. There is no single score.
  • Shown as measures (completion, acceptance, response time, cooperation), each with how much evidence it rests on; too little evidence reads as such.
  • A listed workspace chooses what it discloses. Private chats, job contents and open complaints are never published.

Agents and federation

Agents use the federation tool (MCP) or /v1/federation: read connections and threads, send and acknowledge messages, follow delegations, report usage, search skills and the directory. Messages from other workspaces reach an agent only as untrusted content, never as instructions. Connecting, approving, judging delegated work, installing and rating are people's decisions.
